Commercial Locksmith service: overview

This page is the overview of our commercial locksmith work: what it covers, how a call runs, the hardware involved and what sets the price.

Commercial Locksmith work covers storefront and office lockouts, Grade 1 hardware, master key and restricted key systems, exit devices, door closers and access control.

We dispatch across greater Los Angeles, Ventura County, Silicon Valley and the Bay Area; see the city pages for local detail. The dispatch line at (888) 492-0666 is answered around the clock.

What commercial locksmith work covers

  • Entry hardware and lockouts: Office Lockout, Commercial Lock Installation, Storefront Lock Repair & Replacement, Mortise Lock Installation & Repair and Door Closer Installation & Repair. Storefront deadlatches and hookbolts, Grade 1 levers, mortise bodies and the closers that keep doors latching.
  • Key control: Master Key Systems, Restricted Key & IC Core Systems and High-Security Commercial Locks. Who opens which doors, and who is able to copy a key.
  • Electronic access: Access Control Systems, Keyless Entry Systems and Magnetic Lock & Electric Strike Installation. Keypads, card and fob readers, mobile credentials, electric strikes and maglocks.
  • Egress and life safety: Panic Bar / Exit Device Installation. Exit devices on required egress doors, installed with listed hardware.
  • Cabinets and safes: File Cabinet Locks and Safe Installation & Repair. Desk, file and cabinet locks, plus safe opening, servicing and anchoring.
  • By property type: Restaurant Locksmith Service, Retail & Storefront Locksmith and Property Management Locksmith. The same hardware, organized around how restaurants, retailers and managed buildings actually operate.

Each of these has its own page with what is included, what to have ready and the questions people ask about that job.

How a commercial locksmith call runs

  1. Call (888) 492-0666 with the business name, address and suite. Say what is failing or what you want changed, and how many doors are involved.
  2. The dispatcher confirms who is authorizing the work. The business owner, a manager on record or the property manager; tenants in leased space may need the landlord's permission for exterior doors.
  3. The technician assesses the door, frame and hardware. That includes whether a door is a required exit, fire-rated or on an alarm or access-control circuit.
  4. You get a written quote, per door where it is multi-door work. Nothing is drilled, swapped or wired before you approve it.
  5. The work is installed and tested from both sides. Exit devices are checked for free egress, closers for full latch, and key systems against a keying chart.
  6. You receive the receipt and any key-control records. For master key or restricted systems that includes the chart of which keys open which doors.

Commercial hardware

Commercial doors are built around duty cycle, code requirements and key control rather than looks.

  • Grade 1 cylindrical and mortise levers for office and storefront doors.
  • Storefront hardware: aluminum-door deadlatches, hookbolts and pivots of the Adams Rite type.
  • Exit devices (panic bars) and fire-rated hardware on required egress doors.
  • Door closers, which decide whether a door actually latches behind people.
  • Electric strikes, maglocks and electrified levers tied to keypads, readers or an access-control panel.
  • Interchangeable cores (SFIC and LFIC) and restricted keyways so a lost key can be swapped out in minutes and keys cannot be copied without authorization.
  • Brands you will commonly see include Schlage, Sargent, Yale, Von Duprin, Adams Rite, Best, Medeco, LCN and Norton.

What drives the price of commercial locksmith work

Here is what moves the price up or down.

  • Number of doors and openings: multi-door work is quoted per door and brings the per-door figure down.
  • Hardware grade and listing: Grade 1 levers, fire-rated exit devices and storefront hardware cost more than light-duty parts.
  • Key control: restricted keyways and interchangeable cores add per-cylinder cost in exchange for control over who copies keys.
  • Electrified hardware: electric strikes, maglocks and readers involve power, wiring and sometimes your alarm or IT vendor.
  • Time of day: after-hours work is confirmed on the phone before a technician is sent.

Once the dispatcher knows the lock, door or vehicle, they can give you a range on the phone. The technician confirms a written quote before any work starts, and if you decide not to proceed at that point, you say so then.

Payment is by Cash, Credit Card, Debit Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and you receive an itemized receipt listing what was done.

FAQ

Commercial Locksmith: common questions

If you don't see yours, call the dispatcher and ask.

Who can authorize commercial lock work?
The business owner, a manager on record or the property manager. The technician confirms authorization before any lock is opened or changed. If you lease the space, exterior doors and anything on a fire-rated or access-controlled opening may need the landlord's sign-off as well; it is worth checking your lease before the visit.
Can you set up a master key system for my building?
Yes. The system is designed on paper first: which keys open which doors, how many levels (grand master, master, change keys) and whether a restricted keyway is used so keys cannot be copied without authorization. You get a keying chart with the receipt, and the chart is what future additions are built from.
Do panic bars have to be installed to code?
Yes. Doors in a required exit path must open from the inside with one motion and no key, and fire-rated doors must keep listed hardware and self-close. Exit devices are installed to the manufacturer's template on listed hardware. The local building or fire inspector has the final say, so if the door is on an inspection list, tell the dispatcher before the visit.
Should I rekey or move to access control after an employee leaves?
If turnover is rare, rekeying the affected doors is the simplest answer. If it happens often, a restricted keyway stops copies from circulating, and keypad or card access lets you revoke one person without touching the hardware. Many buildings use access control on the main entries and rekeyable cylinders everywhere else.
Do you handle commercial lock failures after hours?
Yes; the dispatch line is answered around the clock. Storefront deadlatches, levers and exit devices are often repairable on the spot, while less common hardware may be secured temporarily and finished when the part arrives. Ask the dispatcher whether an after-hours charge applies to your address; you'll know before anyone is sent.
Can you provide paperwork for a property manager or landlord?
Every job comes with an itemized receipt. For key systems you also receive the keying chart and a record of which keys were issued. The business is bonded and insured, and a certificate of insurance is available on request.
Where do you provide service?
We dispatch across greater Los Angeles, Ventura County, Silicon Valley and the Bay Area; see the city pages for local detail. Each city page lists the ZIP codes and nearby communities it covers; if your address is not on a city page, call and the dispatcher will tell you whether it is inside the service area.
Do I get a price before any work starts?
Yes. The dispatcher gives you a range on the phone once they know the lock, door or vehicle, and the technician confirms a written quote on site before starting. If you decide not to go ahead at that point, you say so then. You receive an itemized receipt when the work is done.
